Located in Deepwater, in the heart of the picturesque New England Highlands, Ballyoch is an equine training centre providing services to both horses and riders throughout the duration of their careers.
Owned and managed by breaker and trainer Patrick Herde, with his wife Winnie and son Archie, Ballyoch is a family-run business with a focus on growing a stronger community.
Although officially established as a business in 2017, Ballyoch is the product of Patrick’s lifelong passion for horses and over twenty years of work breaking and training horses across Australia, Spain and Scotland.
Today, Ballyoch offers an elite range of skills and experience from around Australia and internationally, with the team renowned for their quality horsemanship and abilities in breaking, training and coaching across all disciplines. Ballyoch is located amongst the hills on a 4500 acre cattle property, creating great opportunity for young horses to be ridden out and used for work.
Ballyoch is proud to offer an Ex-racehorse program, a joint venture with Racing NSW, Godolphin NSW and BackTrack Youthworks, to retrain and rehome retired racehorses for their next career step in life.
The Ballyoch team are committed to building skills, knowledge and confidence within each rider throughout the horse training process and ensuring they are an essential part of the journey. This dedication has ensured a loyal base of returning clients who feel confident they will emerge from Ballyoch with a greater understanding of their horse and improved all-round horsemanship.
Ballyoch is located on the New England Highway, with easy access for horse trucks. The facilities include safe day yards and spelling paddocks, sand working areas, stick and ball areas, and access to Deepwater racetrack (1600m) with barriers.
